Why Consider a Breast Lift?

December 7th, 2009 -- Posted in breast lift | No Comments »

A breast lift procedure, also known as a mastopexy, has been an exceedingly successful tool for many women seeking to revitalize their figures. For women, the aging process takes a toll not only on their faces, but also noticeably so on their breasts. Skin loses elasticity over time, causing the breasts to sag and lose their natural shape. A woman’s breasts often experience numerous changes through pregnancy and weight loss or gain; causing their size to fluctuate, further exacerbating sagging. It is important for anyone considering surgery to be in good overall health and to maintain realistic goals and expectations in order for Dr. Savalia to maximize their surgical success. For any woman considering a breast lift, it may be best to wait until you are not planning on having any additional children; as pregnancy can greatly affect the size and shape of the breast, as well as causing additional sagging.

The breast lift surgery itself is achieved through a variety of techniques. Dr. Savalia will evaluate your breasts and the appropriate method for the lift, in order to achieve the best results. The most common methods involve and anchor-like incision or a lollipop-like incision on the breast. Dr. Savalia removes excess skin while repositioning the nipple an areola in a higher, more youthful placement. It is a misconception that only women with larger breasts need or want lift. Although the degree of sagging may be less severe, many women with smaller breasts seek a lift to regain a more youthful appearance. Depending on the breast size, Dr. Savalia may modify the procedure, utilizing less extensive incisions to minimize scarring. Breast implants can also but used to achieve larger, fuller breasts, as many women feel that they have lost breast tissue through the aging process.

The Breast Lift

September 24th, 2009 -- Posted in breast lift | No Comments »

As women age, their skin loses elasticity and gravity takes it’s toll. Unfortunately, this aging process affects all areas of the body, causing breasts to lose their natural shape and youthful appearance. The breast lift procedure, also known as the mastopexy, enables women to markedly improve the shape and contour of their breasts. The actual procedure aims at providing a more youthful appearance by elevating the breasts, including raising the position or the nipple and areola. A breast lift may also be performed in conjunction with a breast augmentation procedure, or a breast reduction, depending on the individual needs of the patient.

The ideal candidate for a breast lift procedure has breasts that suffer from the ravages or age, gravity, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and heredity. Their breasts may appear flat or elongated, with enlarged areolas, nipples that point downward, or off to the side, and the skin is stretched.

The breast lift operation, has the ability to lift and firm the breasts by removing excess skin, tightening the surrounding tissue, and creating a new breast contour that has greatly increased support. The breasts are then in a much more youthful position, with skin that is tight rather than stretched and lax. What a breast lift procedure will not accomplish is a significant change to the size of the breasts, neither smaller nor larger. To alter the size of the breast, Dr. Savalia may perform either a breast augmentation or a breast reduction, in conjunction with the breast lift. The breast lift procedure, also, will not round out the upper part of the breast. This is generally accomplished by adding an implant through a breast augmentation, again, performed with the breast lift procedure.

Combat Sagging With a Breast Lift

March 17th, 2008 -- Posted in breast lift, breast surgery, cosmetic surgery | No Comments »

What if you didn’t have to live with the effects of gravity, genetics and aging? The breast lift procedure is a cosmetic treatment designed to help women achieve a more attractive, youthful breast contour.

Breast Lift Types

Circumareolar — This technique is used on women needing minimal lifting. A small incision is made around the areola, leaving a small, barely visible scar around the outside of the areola.

Vertical (lollipop scar) — The traditional full scar mastopexy (inverted-T) is often used on women who need extensive lifting. With this approach, the incisions will include the ‘lollipop’ incision plus an incision that runs vertically along the lower breast crease.

Wise pattern (anchor scar) — The surgeon makes a circular incision positioned around the areola, an incision in the breast crease, and a vertical incision positioned on the underside of the breast.

Breast Lift Benefits

A breast lift may be the perfect procedure for women looking to achieve younger looking breasts. Also called mastopexy, your cosmetic surgeon “lifts” and reshapes the breast with state-of-the art cosmetic body contouring techniques. Essentially, the breast tissue is manipulated, and the nipple repositioned, to present a firm, voluptuous breast. In many cases, the techniques used during breast lift actually create a fuller, larger breast appearance.

Are You a Candidate?

Good breast lift candidates are healthy women over age 18 who have realistic goals. Breast lift is a popular choice after pregnancy (when no additional births are expected) and is often performed in conjunction with breast enlargement to help patients reach their ideal breast size and shape. For many women considering a breast enlargement, however, a breast lift may be all that is needed to achieve a fuller breast appearance and a more youthful, “perky” look.
