When The Liquid Facelift

The “Liquid Facelift” is a term used to describe a popular new technique in non-surgical facial rejuvenation. But what is it exactly? Women and men alike begin to notice unpleasant changes in their appearances long before they feel that they are ready to go under to surgeon’s knife; this is when the Liquid Facelift is utilized. Rather than facelift surgery, patients opt for a combination of Botox and dermal fillers to refresh and revitalize their look.

The ideal patient for the Liquid Facelift, is someone who has been witnessing the aging process take its toll on them; they may be losing elasticity, fullness to their lips and cheeks, jowls are beginning to develop, and wrinkles are becoming much more pronounced. The Liquid Facelift patient is not yet ready to undergo a major facial surgery but is becoming increasingly displeased with their facial changes.

How does it work? The Liquid Facelift involves only non-invasive methods; Botox, and dermal fillers, such as Juvederm and Radiesse. Botox is used in areas such as the forehead, between the brows (commonly known as the 11’s), and crow’s feet. It relaxes the muscle, smoothing and preventing further creasing. Fillers are then used to plump up areas such as the lips, which often diminish in size as one ages, and deep folds, such as the lines from the nose down to the corners of the mouth (the nasolabial folds), and the lines from the corners of the mouth down to the chin (marionette lines). However, the diminishing of lines and folds is only one important aspect of regaining a youthful appearance. As one ages, the skin loses collagen and elasticity, often leaving the face looking hollow. Radiesse is an exceptional product for rebuilding and restructuring the face in areas where collagen has been lost, such as cheekbones, which can be given added fullness. As gravity takes its toll over time, jowls begin to develop; this is a telltale sign of aging. Fillers (ideally Radiesse), can again be used to hide this unwanted change, and the jaw line can once again become smooth.

For many patients, the idea of a facelift can be a frightening prospect. They are not yet at a place in their lives where surgery is the solution to their aging dilemma, yet they are looking for some solution to regain a part of their lost youth. The Liquid Facelift is the ideal procedure for such a patient. Aside from some minor discomfort resulting from the injections, it is a pain-free, non-invasive, and temporary improvement for the patient.
