A forehead lift, also known as a browlift, can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. Forehead lift involves the removal or alteration of the muscles above the eyes to smooth lines and raise the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance. Orange County plastic surgeon Dr. Savalia often combines a forehead lift with other procedures such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and facelift to improve the look of the eyes and other facial features.
Is a forehead lift right for me?
Most forehead lift patients are between the ages of 40 and 70. The best candidates are men and women in overall good health who find themselves troubled by the appearance of deep forehead lines and wrinkles or dropping brows. Some younger patients who have drooping eyebrows that make them appear older than they are may also benefit from a browlift. Regardless of the reason, a browlift can provide long-term lift of the eyebrows and smoothing of your forehead and leave you with a more youthful and rested appearance.
What can I expect during the forehead lift procedure?
Dr. Savalia performs forehead lift in a Newport Beach surgicenter. The procedure typically requires only local anesthesia, though occasionally general anesthesia is used. Time in surgery is about one to two hours, and you return home the same day.
Forehead lift may be performed through a conventional-incision method, but in some cases Dr. Savalia may use an endoscope, which requires a smaller incision. The advantages of an endoscopic procedure can include no general anesthesia, less bruising and scarring and less down time.
What is recovery like for a forehead lift procedure?
After forehead lift surgery, it is important to keep the head elevated for several days to minimize swelling. Some numbness and temporary discomfort may occur around the incision for several days, but can be controlled with pain medication. Bruising and swelling will usually subside considerably in the first week, and bandages will come off a day or two after brow lift surgery. Stitches from the surgery are usually removed during the first two weeks. Minimal hair loss occurs in some instances, and most patients return to work within 7 to 10 days.
