How is neck lift performed?
Dr. Savalia performs neck lift plastic surgery in Newport Beach using a variety of procedures, depending on the individual. Possible neck lift procedures may include:
- liposuction
- cervicoplasty
- platysmaplasty
Liposuction is used during a neck lift to remove fatty deposits from the neck area. Cervicoplasty is used to remove excess or sagging skin, and platysmaplasty is used to tighten neck muscles that have lost elasticity and to eliminate unsightly band lines. Dr. Savalia may also suggest other surgical procedures to optimize the results of a neck lift. These may include a facelift, forehead lift, or eyelid surgery.
What can I expect during the neck lift procedure?
Neck lift is performed in Dr. Savalia's Newport Beach-based surgical facility. Your time in surgery may be one to several hours, depending on how many procedures you have done. Neck lift may be performed under local or general anesthesia, but usually does not involve an overnight stay.
What is recovery like for the neck lift procedure?
Recovery from a neck lift can take up to ten days. You may experience bruising and swelling during this time. Dr. Savalia may suggest elevating your head at night and he will also recommend keeping your head and neck still and elevated at all times throughout the recovery period. Dr. Savalia will prescribe oral pain medication as needed, and advise you about physical activity restrictions.
For the two weeks following surgery, you will be asked to wear a protective garment around your neck during the evening. Final results from your neck lift will be evident in three to six months.
